Bible Verses On Anxiety That Aid Relaxation

By Michael Obrien

There are many bible verses on anxiety and stress. It is a major theme throughout the book. They make reference to anxiousness in several sections. Moreover, a number of biblical theories describe how these kinds of ailments can be overcome.

Nervousness is the term used when you feel miserable about things. It can be a general thing or be directed at specific things, such as a worry about money, your health, or even concern for the problems faced by others. The debilitating effects of worry lead people to seek solace in the bible and in the words of comfort contained within its pages.

According to the bible, being restless has many causes. The book of Revelation associates a lot of anxiousness with the Judgment and the return of Christ. This can cause an excited type of nervousness, or might cause people to think about what will happen when He does return, and about their destiny and their place in the world once Judgement has taken place. Matthew 6: 31-34 offers a passage associated with worry too. It states that, due to the incapability of individuals to be aware of God, people worry too much about what they will eat and drink the next day and do not put their trust in Him.

Throughout Luke 22: 22-23, Jesus informs his disciples never to concern themselves with anything at all. The example used is that of the ravens, who have a shiny coat provided by God, as well as food to eat, even though they neither sow nor harvest anything. The thought is that if He can provide for the raven then the people who believe in Him should have no problems. The main thrust of it all is that God is the supplier of our food and that worrying accomplishes nothing.

Fear is prevalent when the prophet Isaiah becomes a messenger and has to bring the people some good news. For some reason he was anxious about this and had to be encouraged by God not to be so concerned. This is in Isaiah 41:10, and, upon reading, it becomes clear that God has made a promise to Isaiah to always be in his presence, therefore he need have no fear. In essence, it means that God has absolute power, including the power to release you from cares and worries.

From Deuteronomy thirty-one: 6, we get the proclamation by the Almighty Father that people should be strong and brave. At the time the people were surrounded by their enemies, so they were worried about their safety. In an effort to galvanize them, God promised not to forsake them and ensured their safety.

John 14:1 gives further specifics about fretfulness. The followers of Jesus become concerned, mainly because Christ announces his intention to leave them very soon. As a result of their concerns, Jesus motivates them to walk around with peace in their minds by telling them that while he is gone he is preparing places in heaven for them and will be there waiting.

Philippians 5: 6-7 contains bible verses on anxiety too. In it Christian believers are told they should not be troubled about anything. On the other hand, they are told to put their requests to God in the form of thanksgiving and through prayers. This leads to a restoring of peace within their minds and hearts.
