Depression Leads To An Incredibly Distressful Life If Left Untreated

If you firmly believe that you're incapable of completing a certain task, it's most likely that you actually won't be able to do so successfully. Basically, there are two types of this mental issue. In one situation, there is a focal problem that causes the disconsolation. For example, the death of a family member or a tragic accident that leads to changes in one's physiology can cause enormous distress, and can be very difficult to cope with. It is often advised to seek help from a professional who will guide you through this stage. The patient will slowly learn how to live with the loss, and after a period of time will no longer fall victim to sadness.

The next type of issue is a lot more serious than the first. These are problems that have no blatant underlying cause, and it takes a lot of effort to truly understand why one may feel the way he or she feels. The issue isn't as obvious as having gone through trauma as a child, and most times the inflicted have barely any memories of how the distress began.

Repressed memories are the brain's way of burying the problems that it feels you won't be able to deal with. It does this as a self-preservation method, thinking not addressing the issues head-on will benefit your mental health. The subconscious uses repression as a survival tactic, but these issues may lead to a mental illness.
